Indonesian and Australian artists are planning to colaborate in performing interdisciplinary art at Cangkringan district in Yogyakarta on Saturday, March 1, 2014. “The performance is needed to introduce Sleman’s tourism potential to domestic and foreign tourists,” Bambang N. Karim, the event organizer, said as quoted by Antara News on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.
Bambang works with Agung Gunawan to combine dancing with contemporary media, installation, and theatrical acts that reflect the spirit of discovery through various contradictions. “This collaboration will be supported with a musical arrangement by Johan Adhyatma from Pradapa Loka Bhakti and Hari Wirawan, a Banyuwangi artist,” he said. The process and composition of these arts is expected to display collaboration spirit between both countries.
“Interdisciplinary art is a combination of several art genres in one formation with a whole new composition,” Bambang said.
Bambang’s initiative received positive response from the Sleman regency government and representatives of the Australian government. The event is also considered as a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Australia-Indonesia relationship.
