ME
My name is Bambang Nurcahyadi Karim. I always introduce myself as BB, simple. There, in Indonesia, people call me Bambang (pronounced barm-barng). My name bears a striking similarity to the current Indonesia president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
I work for company bNd Solutions that I established with my partner. If you are interested in my web design, web development, and graphic design services I suggest you contact me via the company.
I am an Indonesian-Australian media artist who works primarily with digital media. One part designer, one part developer and one part scripter who seeks to explore the boundaries of the digital medium. I love to create art that evokes the fragility of humanity and the solidity of history and the natural world.
APPROACH
I hold degree in Economics and Management and have spent several years in the corporate world using the knowledge I have gained. I value my experience in the corporate world very much because it has enabled me to approach my art practice from a different perspective, that is, management.
Most of the time, I know what I want and the objective of the art that I make. So, I don’t over-analyse the process and wait endlessly for a never arriving epiphany in order to produce my art.
I always have my visual diary and like to write/draw straight away any idea that comes to mind. This is becoming a kind of library to which I can refer any time I want. I don’t like talking too much or having hesitation when exercising an idea. I’d rather get my hands down and dirty and start working on it straight away.
Yes, I make mistake sometimes.
INFLUENCE
I love film and music very much. Most of my visual works were helped a lot through my obsession with film and music. To name a view, I really love the works of Robert del Naja of Massive Attack, Jim Morrison of The Doors, and Michael Stipe of REM. I have watched the works of media artist Chris Cunningham countless times. I love the works of Mark Romanek, Michell Gondry, and Zhang Yimou. I love Woody Allen’s work. I think he is brilliant. I love television. I love bad TV. I love…
You see… I love everything. I don’t think I can sum up what influences me easily.
