I remember clearly, the first movie that I saw in the cinema was “Jesus of Nazareth”. It was really great. I spent nearly 3 hours in the cinema in my hometown which always overcrowded and hot - incomparable with the cinema today, but what matter was the experience. Because right after that, were the days that I spent back from school in the afternoon in the cinema. Full of joy and great memories.
Today, everyone talk about movie. From dinner table to the million bloggers in the internet. This proves that film is really ingrain in people life and become day-to-day lingo.
Back then when blogging was not available - not even internet - first time I earn my money from writing film review. Not much, but I remember exactly, my first film review is “Stealing Heaven” and then “Missisipi Burning.”
Film is the media who responsible to educate me. The addictive roughly 2 hours, that able to trancend me in a comprehensive cerebral education of design, color, composition, technique, sound, moving images, story-telling, writing, acting, management, and the most important is a harrowing experience.
My favorite films are films that makes me love film. They are films that :
- Makes me saying, “Damn, I wish I make that film.” - because in my life I want to make film
- Give me goose bumps or make the hair in my hand standing up or make my heart sheer at least twice
- That I watch times and times again. The next watch of any film after 2nd watch is because of educational purpose
- That I refer to any conversation
- That I want to meet the director of the film and saying, “Thanks for great work. It changes my life”
