INTRODUCTION
The following experiments based on the basic idea of visual poetry I posted here. Instead of only playing around with words (poetry), I experiments it with algorithmic images. I try to push the boundaries of generative art that I like: instead of solely stands as end-visual product - as you can see in the screen capture of every clip here-I want to exercise it within live-performance.
In the first clip above, the effect is produced using Fibonacci numbers, where recursion is repeated until reaching certain numbers and the shape of form resembles feathers.

Above is another experiments where the shape is replaced with a shape resemble to fish-skin

In the clip above, instead of using recursion, the effect are produced using random number and is stopped depending on the limit that have been set. The effect produced “ a flowing vein”

Another exegeration of “vein effect” from the previous clip, The effect resemble blood.
THEORY
I observed that there is a trend toward anti-choreograph physical performance, seemingly anti-existentialist- that an “organic” (oh, I really don’t like this word!) And inner- experience is more important to create a quasi-improvisation performance.
However, like it or not, I argue that technology also have already take big role in art. As a media artist myself, in the name of efficiency and progress I hail them as a new black. So, my experiments here will only work IF, only IF the performance rely on the technology. If the performance will only using traditional media – or just the physical body itself –otherwise, I can concur that this experiment is flawed.
But hearing the words rely on - as in “rely on technology”, It will deter anti-existentialist already. A great performance that demand hundred percent control of what’s happening on the stage will give no chance over responds-sharing (include the media) in order to generate a unified grand result. It is of course, in my point of view, is very pompous attitude that only the great Robert Lepage is the only artist that I have seen so far successfully and gracefully can deliver it.
But a break-through must be made, after all I love harmony, and I believe that problem-solving is the key of innovation. And innovation and invention is the mother of technology. This is how I come up with this post entitled: Live Performance with Visual Images from Mathematical Programming
First, I’d like to emphasize the dynamic terminology I use in this post. Dynamic in my words means un-choreograph, non-linear and less-predictable performance of (machine or body). So every time this “thing” is being executed, It will not generate same result. You will never hear a smart-arse critique say “oh, I’ve seen that”, instead “which version do you see?”
Let’s have a look at the experiments above. As I explained earlier, those effects are generated dynamically means It can be created independently. The translation is: a performer (or an operator – least choice) can change certain variable as they like and it will generate different result according to the variable that he/she changed - a situation for anti-existentialist to challenge their thinking and imagination.
PROBLEM SOLVED?
What problem?..ha..ha.. ha kidding. But, I would say, I really love this idea and I really want to test this. Comments are welcomed
